Conference: Delivering Values from Avian Genomics May 19-20, 2008 The recently released Blueprint for USDA Efforts in Agricultural Animal Genomics 2008-2017, sequencing of the zebra finch genome and NIH acknowledgement of the importance of avian species in human disease have all served to focus attention on avian genomics. This conference focuses on how value can be derived from genomics and functional genomics investments in avian research. Workshop: Avian Gene Ontology(GO) and Microarray Data Modeling May 21-22, 2008 The workshop on Avian Gene Ontology will provide experimental based examples of how the GO can be used for biological modeling of high-throughput data and will serve as a forum for prioritizing the functional annotation of avian genes. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own datasets to work with. Call for Participation: The Conference Program Committee invites you to submit an abstract for either a poster or platform(oral) presentation. Abstracts are limited to 250 words in length. Early submission abstracts should be submitted by April 1st and authors will be notified of acceptance by April 7th at the latest. Late submission abstracts should be submitted by April 18 and authors will be notified of acceptance by April 25. Both poster and platform presenters will be eligible to submit a manuscript for publication in the Conference Proceedings, which will be published in BMC Genomics, an open-access genomics journal with an impact factor of 4.0. Travel info: Graduate student travel awards will be available. Topics: The conference is open to all topics within the area of avian genomics that explore methods for extracting value from genome sequence and related resources. Topics include:
Other topics are welcome but they should be of general interest to the participants and relevant to the scope of the conference. |
